Global Head of Security

Dubai, UAE or Haywards Heath, UK

AED 20,550 per month/ AED 246,600 per annum or GBP £48,900 per annum (approx.)

Reporting to the Controller of Internal Audit and Assurance, the Global Head of Security (Physical) will manage the organisation’s operational security risk management framework. The role supports the organisational management team and country directors, acting as a subject matter expert on security, crisis management and field safety. The position leads on the implementation of organisational resilience processes and analyses current and emerging threats to Sightsavers’ staff, programmes and assets.

Key Responsibilities:

· Manage Sightsavers’ travel security processes.

· Manage the continuous audit of organisational and country-level security processes.

· Prepare security threat reports for management team, board of trustees and country teams.

· Oversee security training for all staff as well as specialist individual training.

· Support duty of care and security compliance at all levels of the organisation.

· Ensure compliance with Sightsavers’ security and crisis policies.

· Act as security lead during crisis scenarios.

· Conduct security assessments on behalf of country teams and donors.

· Travel to support country offices (20%).

· Represent Sightsavers at security forums such as EISF.

· Manage security and crisis consultants.

· Manage organisational emergency response and act as first point of contact for staff during emergencies by holding the emergency phone.

Requirements:

· Previous experience of a senior security management position, preferably within an INGO setting.

· Experience of managing security and safety in complex and fragile settings, including conflict and post-conflict zones.

· Deployment experience to complex areas considered an advantage.

· Exceptional standard of analytical and writing skills.

· Exceptional communications skills, experience of communicating at a strategic level.

· Experience of writing in-depth risk assessments in an international setting.

· Experience of delivering training to multi-national staff

· Proven ability to work in a multi-national environment.

· Experience of and ability to react to crises.

· Experience of promoting change within an organisation.

· University degree in a relevant discipline and French language ability considered advantageous.

· Fluency in English.
