RedR is an international charity that improves the effectiveness of disaster relief, helping save and rebuild the lives of people affected by disaster worldwide. We do this by delivering essential training and support to relief organisations and their staff, and by supplying skilled professionals to humanitarian programmes. Our work helps to ensure that the right people with the right skills are responding to global emergencies and enables both local and international relief workers to react to the needs of those affected by disaster, efficiently and safely.
RedR is using its training and skills expertise to assist humanitarians in Sudan – primarily Sudanese nationals – to raise their capacity to meet the needs of people affected by poverty and conflict.
We are also working to provide government employees, community members and aid workers with the skills they need to assist people in need, providing high quality courses and services which deliver expertise, information and support to all those improving lives in Sudan.
RedR is seeking a qualified candidate for the following position, which is based in El Fasher in Darfurwith frequent travel to RedR country office,in Khartoum and where necessary other areas where RedR may operate.
Job Title: Field Coordinator/Outside Khartoum(1 Post)
Location: El Fasher
Responsible to: Country Director – Sudan
Start date: As soon as possible
Duration: One Year; Fixed-term contract. Extensions may be possible subject to funding and performance
Salary: Ranging between: 6,288.85 – 7,280.13 SDG Monthly Gross salary depending on experience and qualifications; the equivalent net monthly salary will be paid in hard currency (GBP); plus other RedR benefits.
Overall Responsibility
Based in El Fasher, the Field Coordinator is a lead function, leading programme logistics and administration activities and issues in all states outside Khartoum. Is working directly under the Country Director to provide quality administration, logistics and coordination for all RedR Sudan Staff and associates as well as proper communications functions.
A. Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for RedR assets in North Darfur El Fashir office.
- Responsible for budget planning and expenditure on related to running El Fashir office as well as other Darfur States related training activities.
- Oversee the achievement of programme targets, in collaboration with the Training Team Leaders and Head of Programmes for all states outside Khartoum.
- Oversee the support functions of HR, logistics, administration and finance, in collaboration with Country Director and Support Service Manager.
- Run and oversee programmes in all states outside Khartoum, working directly with Senior Program Coordinator and Country Director.
- Control and ensure all files, documents and related materials for programs outside Khartoum are correctly itemized and recorded during the office on-going operations.
- Undertake purchases as per RedR Purchasing and Tendering Operation procedures.
- The negotiation, drafting and eventual management of all rental agreements and local contracts in the area within the framework given by the Head of Support.
- Regular reporting to Support Service Manager and Senior Program Coordinator in Khartoum, prepare weekly and annual reports that outline achievements and make recommendations.
- Report and follow up on management and maintenance of office and accommodations concern and around residential facilities.
- Serve as a daily communication link between El Fashir field office in North Darfur, other Darfur States and Khartoum office.
- Disseminate relevant information to staff, build trust and unity within staff, and provide leadership through area meetings and other staff development tools.
- Work in close coordination with States HAC authorities in states outside Kharoutm and any other local partners indicated by RedR, under the supervision and coordination with Support Service Manager.
- Work at all times in a manner that promotes individual and team development in staff.
- Participate in RedR professional developmental activities such as workshops, conferences, projects, and committees that will promote personal and professional development.
- Perform other related duties as required or assigned by Country Director.
Other primary tasks
- Maintaining close collaboration with the CD , Acting CD/ SSM, Senior Program Coordinator, TTL, Logistics, IT and Safety Coordinator and Marketing and HR Coordinator in Khartoum.
- Any other tasks or duties as required by the SSM or the organisation.
Essential
- Strong written and spoken communication, networking and presentation skills
- Required, five (5) years previous experience in the administration and/or management fields; and a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience gained from working within similar International NGOs, and from within the humanitarian sector in Sudan.
- University degree in management, business administration, development or any other social sciences relevant field
- Strong commitment to humanitarian work.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills
- Familiarity with humanitarian operations, backed up by relevant experience in complex emergencies.
- Practical experience of security radio systems
- Excellent computer skills, with good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Sensitivity to cultural differences and the ability to adapt to different contexts
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- Experience in liaising with NGOs, UN and other government officials/organisations.
- Good interpersonal and team working skills, within a multicultural setting
- Proactive approach to work and able to work with limited supervision at various points
- Flexibility and a can-do approach to tasks and the ability to adapt to a changing and challenging environment.
