Health Cluster Co-lead – Sudan Country Office
ROLE PURPOSE
Health Cluster Co-lead will be deployed to the health cluster to work in coordination with ministry of health and is expected to take the following roles:
The overall purpose of the health cluster is to Provide health leadership in emergency and crisis preparedness, response and recovery; Prevent and reduce emergency-related morbidity and mortality; Ensure evidence-based actions, gap filling and sound coordination; and Enhance accountability, predictability and effectiveness of humanitarian health actions.
The Health Cluster Co-lead will contribute for the fulfilment of the Health Clusters purposes, which are to provide substantial assistance in the implementation of inclusive, field-level humanitarian coordination mechanisms, including liaison with relevant UN operational agencies, NGOs, and local authorities.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
* Degree in medicine and / in Public Health professional with extensive experiences of humanitarian response and coordination mechanism for 5-6 years, of which at least 3 in managing and coordinating health programme in chronic, acute and sudden-onset emergencies.
* Excellent communication skills including the ability to write clear and well-argued assessment and project reports
* Proven experience in designing evidence based health programming, preparing successful funding proposals for humanitarian and development donors.
* Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy
* The capacity and willingness to be flexible and accommodating in difficult and sometimes insecure working circumstances.
* Strong analytical and conceptual skills and the ability to think and plan strategically, challenge existing mind sets.
* Strong skills and experience in all aspects of cluster management, planning, monitoring, review & evaluation.
* Experience of solving complex issues through analysis, definition of a clear way forward and ensuring buy in
* Ability to present complex information in a succinct and compelling manner
* Fluency in English, both verbal and written, required
* Commitment to the aims and principles of humanitarian coordination.
* Familiar with the Sudan health system and context, as well as working and living experiences in Sudan
Desirable
* Leading or co-leading health cluster in Sudan or other African countries.

Additional job responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities as set out above are not exhaustive and the role holder may be required to carry out additional duties within reasonableness of their level of skills and experience.
Contract length: 9 months with possibility of extension subject to funding.
