The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) is an inter-governmental organisation mandated with the widespread and increased adoption and sustainable use of all forms of renewable energy. At present, IRENA has 160 Members (159 States and the European Union) that acceded to its Statute, and 23 additional States in the process of accession and actively engaged. IRENA supports countries in their transition to a sustainable energy future, and serves as the principal platform for international cooperation, centre of excellence, and repository of policy, technology, resource and financial knowledge on renewable energy. The Agency implements its mandate with the view to sustainable development, increased energy security and low-carbon economic growth and prosperity.
IRENA seeks to appoint its next Deputy Director-General, a leading member of the Agency’s senior management team. The Deputy Director-General reports directly to the Director-General, and, under his supervision and within the delegated authority, will support him in the overall management of the Agency, in the implementation of its Work Programme and Budget and in the full range of the Director-General’s duties and responsibilities.

Ability to establish, maintain and build broad strategic networks and partnerships so as to further the objectives of the Agency. Qualifications
Experience: At least 15 years of progressively responsible experience in energy, sustainable development, economics, international affairs or related field. Work experience in senior management assignments in public and/or private sector, preferably in an international setting. Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining professional networks is desirable.
Education: Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in a relevant field.
Language: Fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of other United Nations official languages would be an asset.
Remuneration
The indicative annual salary ranges from USD 110,169 to USD 123,323 supplemented by a post adjustment ranging from USD 72,160.70 to USD 80,776.57 to account for living condition at the duty station1.
