PROGRAM/ DEPARTMENT SUMMARY:
The Global Partnerships and Alliances Team (GPAT) serves to diversify, expand and better position Mercy Corps in a rapidly changing and increasingly diverse development environment. The GPAT team focuses on identifying and developing strategic relationships with individuals, organizations and governments who can support Mercy Corps in becoming an increasingly 'global' agency in terms of its capacity, human and financial resources, governance and culture.

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
The Gulf/MENA Regional Partnerships Manager sets the strategic vision for and carries out Mercy Corps' engagement and fundraising in the Gulf/MENA region with governments, foundations, and the private sector.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategy and Vision
• Develop and regularly update a cohesive engagement, partnerships, and influence strategy for Mercy Corps in the Gulf/MENA region.
• Seek out and develop opportunities to implement Mercy Corps' Gulf/MENA engagement, partnerships, and influence strategy.
• Provide valuable insight about Mercy Corps' strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats in the Gulf/MENA region as needed.

Fundraising and Partnership Management
• Develop Mercy Corps' existing donor relationships, and influence, and innovation partnerships in the Gulf/MENA region.
• Forecast and build new relationships with governments, foundations, and the private sector within the Gulf/MENA region.
• Coordinate closely with regional program teams and the technical support unit to design and implement initiatives supported by Gulf/MENA donors and/or partners.
• Track ODA and philanthropic trends in the Gulf/MENA region.
• Write (in collaboration with field and TSU), review and submit proposals to donors and partners in the Gulf/MENA region.
• Report on the pipeline development in the Gulf/MENA region.

Representation and Communications
• Track and represent Mercy Corps at key events in the Gulf/MENA region that grow and deepen our profile, funding and influence.
• Manage Mercy Corps' internal and external communications in the Gulf/MENA region, in close coordination with Mercy Corps' global MarComms team.

OTHER:
• Track all relationships in the Global Partnerships and Alliances Team's CRM system, Insightly.com
• Other duties as assigned or requested

Organizational Learning: As part of our commitment to organizational learning and in support of our understanding that learning organizations are more effective, efficient and relevant to the communities they serve - we expect all team members to commit 5% of their time to learning activities that benefit Mercy Corps as well as themselves.

Accountability to Beneficiaries: Mercy Corps team members are expected to support all efforts towards accountability, specifically to our beneficiaries and to international standards guiding international relief and development work, while actively engaging beneficiary communities as equal partners in the design, monitoring and evaluation of our field projects.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None.

ACCOUNTABILITY:
REPORTS DIRECTLY TO: Senior Vice President for Global Partnerships and Alliances
WORKS DIRECTLY WITH: Global Partnerships and Alliances Team, Corporate and Foundations, Middle East Regional Program Team, Technical Support Units

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum 7 years' post-secondary study and/or BA/S in related field highly preferred.
• Strong leadership and cross-cultural representation and engagement skills
• Excellent project management and process improvement skills
• Evident intra-preneurial and entrepreneurial mindset
• Proven ability to represent an organization in a public speaking capacity
• Strong relationship development and management skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
• Proven ability to prioritize multiple competing deadlines with grace and humor
• International, non-profit, and government experience and/or interest preferred.
• Preferred; prior Mercy Corps HQ experience also preferred but not essential.

SUCCESS FACTORS:
The successful GPAT/MENA Regional Partnerships Manager will demonstrate a healthy combination of leadership, management, and good humor managing key relationships in the Gulf/MENA region. The ideal candidate must have a proven track record of successful delivery and management of multiple and competing complex programs and initiatives. S/he will possess excellent business development and relationship management skills, including strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and places a high priority on attention to detail and organization. The successful Gulf/MENA Regional Partnerships Manager will work cooperatively in a team and work independently to effectively represent Mercy Corps at all times. S/he must demonstrate flexibility and creativity in planning and problem solving, and be accountable for results in a fast-paced, fluid and challenging work environment of many competing and changing priorities. An entrepreneurial spirit that is both creative and flexible is important.

LIVING CONDITIONS/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
The position is based in the MENA region. The Gulf/MENA Regional Partnerships Manager should be able to work outside of office hours including morning, evenings and/or weekends as required to support key events and timeframe.

Mercy Corps Team members represent the agency both during and outside of work hours when deployed in a field posting or on a visit/TDY to a field posting. Team members are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner and respect local laws, customs and MC's policies, procedures, and values at all times and in all in-country venues.
