NCA is a member of the ACT Alliance and has a country office in Khartoum, and implements programmes in Darfur, Kordofan and White Nile regions.
NCA is entering a period of change, with a revision of the global programme plan in 2018 and subsequent revision of the country strategy in 2019. We are therefore looking for an experienced Programme Advisor to support and work closely with colleagues in Sudan.
This is a one-year position, with possibility for extension depending on needs on the ground, as well as the performance by the selected person. The position is based in Khartoum. This position is not a family station.
Duties and responsibilities
- Ensure high quality in planning documents, in particular the country strategy and multi-year programme plans.
- Lead the process to merge the Darfur and Kordofan programmes into one NCA Sudan Country Programme.
- The compilation and finalization of high quality donor periodic, annual and multi-year results reports
- Conduct site visits to ongoing projects to monitor the implementation of programmes according to plans and donor requirements/calendars
- Provide on-the-job technical advice and accompaniment of NCA national staff and partners
- Closely liaise with, assist and support the NCA Country Director, other Senior Technical Advisors and national staff
- Develop or strengthen existing innovation initiatives for better projects implementation and results
- Develop and strengthen M&E systems, and in particular digitalization processes for quality data collection.
Qualifications
- Over 5 years’ experience in project planning, implementation, monitoring, follow up of projects
- Over 5 years of experience from managing and/or monitoring big multi-donor projects
- Working and/or contextual knowledge of Sudan and especially Darfur and Kordofan regions
- Experience in working in post conflict contexts
- Experience working with multi-cultural and multi-national teams
- Experience working with different donors. Of particular interest are Norad, ECHO, DFID, and USAID/OFDA.
- Fluency in English, written and oral, is a requirement, knowledge of the Arabic language will be an advantage
