Organizational Setting and Reporting This position is located in Zalingei, within the Engineering Section, Facilities Management Unit of the Africa Union-United Nations Mission in Darfur (UNAMID). The incumbent will report to the Sector Engineer.
Duties and responsibilities:
Within delegated authority, the Associate Facilities Management Officer will responsible for the following duties:
• Analyzes project proposals and provides inputs to ensure technical feasibility. • Liaises with Planning and Design Officers and Engineers to discuss drawings and plans • Applies commonly used calculations, practices and precedents in completing portions of larger projects related to the design, construction, or maintenance of major systems and facilities. • Supports the preparation and implementation of guidance materials and instructions aimed at achieving the objectives of the Unit. • Implements and monitors minor ongoing projects and maintenance schedules. • Undertakes research to gather information related to engineering projects. • Conducts technical studies on engineering topics, drafting guidelines for the general planning and maintenance of systems and facilities. • Ensures the coordination and provision of materials and logistic support is provided. • Supports the assignments of duties to technical staff and contracted project personnel under his/her supervision ensuring technical guidance. • Participates in the production of cost data for mission related engineering activities. • Liaises with Facilities Management Officers, Engineers and mission specialists responsible for related specialized phases to arrive at mutually satisfactory approaches to problems through exchange and comparison of data. • Follows-up on work orders. • Prepares presentations as required. • Performs other duties as required;

Qualifications:
Education: Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) or a first-level university degree, in combination with other relevant academic qualifications and/or additional experience preferably in the field of in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Business Management, Contract Administration, or related fields, is recommended.
Experience: At least two (02) years of progressively responsible experience in technical, administrative and supervisory areas in the maintenance, and operation of facilities, especially in the field.
Language: Fluency in both spoken and written English and Arabic is required.
